Trippets lounge bar

Trippets Lounge Bar was opened in 2015 to provide Sheffield and the wider South Yorkshire region with its only dedicated live jazz venue.

·       We aim to  provide a welcoming and accessible hub for the city’s existing jazz community in quality surroundings.

Providing top quality, free live jazz gigs gives regular work for scores of musicians and helps to grow and develop jazz audiences in the region.

To compliment the live music, Trippets offers a small-plate dining experience in a relaxed, stylish atmosphere. Our small, dedicated team will provide you with first class service in our welcoming bar where you can enjoy beautiful cocktails, well chosen wines or one of our 89 gins.

Husband and wife team, Carl and Debbie Shaw, were already well versed in running successful hospitality venues  - they ran the Bull’s Head in Ashford-In-the-Water for 15 years   - but this was their first dedicated jazz venue and their first in the busy city centre cultural hub of Sheffield.

They started small with live music just one night a week. Within months they were programming live music a minimum of four nights a week with performances from a huge array of domestic and international jazz talent.

The city welcomed Trippets Lounge Bar from the day it opened and it soon became a cornerstone of Sheffield’s cultural offering.

Trippets has been lucky enough to boast an exemplary roster of musicians on our books. From local legend Ralph Salt – a professional jazz pianist since 1967 – to Jeremy Meek, former bassist with Joan Armatrading that now performs with Sheffield’s own Paul Carrack. Trippets Lounge Bar has played host to soloists, duos, full bands and more.

We’ve also staged record launches; art and photography exhibitions and literary readings – normally with a nod to jazz. We’ve enjoyed a steady stream of five star reviews from our customers down the years.

Trippets are also home to a rare collection of images by acclaimed jazz photographer William Ellis, a great supporter of Trippets Lounge Bar.
